What good is the internet if it doesn't become a part of you?
My website, simonjoseph.ca, recently was shut down. The owner hadn't been paying his bills. I first built the site in college for a business of music class. It was fun to imagine its potential for growth, even as i received my grade on the assignment.
I value internet presence. Internet relations. First, email became a neat way to quickly communicate across the world. Next came the conversation arenas that are msn and icq (and others). Facebook gave us a bulletin board to pin up public or private messages or photos. Twitter, with its deliciously creative restriction that our postings must only use post-it notes.
Lately, I've used the internet more as an observer.
I have a feeling that bands get worse over time. If their name doesn't start with R, and end with adiohead, that is. I'm obviously afraid that will happen to me. You are what you hate. How do i write when my fear is stronger than my curiosity?
You're the audience. Who ever you aren't. Who ever i intended you to be.
I'm sorry about the ambiguity. I believe that my life can be fixed in my head, and i don't intent to bother you with make believe.
If you've got a sword, and you're looking to take apart a block of wood, a big swipe towards the middle will not do you much good. Attack the corners.
Maybe the blog will go front page center. Then people will be greeted by newness, instead of needing to go hunting for newness.
I got fired from a busking job today. I was playing the farmers market, and the venders decided they needed a different style.
I have applied for a non musical job. I had an interview today and it went well. I think I'll begin training to be a poker dealer in a touch more than a week. I think it will be fun and educational.
It was fun and educational being a full time musician. I managed to make some money. I learned a bit about the right busking places and times. I learned a bit about people. I got to be entertainment, but not always on my own terms. Next time i take a shot at full time musicianship I'll be closer to the mark. The important thing is that i try to do what i want.
Peace and Love,
simon
I would like to direct you to an uglier site with a flashier name, simonjoseph.ca
It's oddly sad that i won't be here any more. I'll admit we've gone through a bit of a separation in the past year. I've been busy with school, and surely my blog understands.
You don't?
You're right to be mad. It wasn't school that kept me away. It's just the most handy excuse. I've been writing less, and i know that's your real concern. You really care about me. You know i love to write. You helped me learn to express myself. It's been super.
Thanks to everyone who read this site. Not for reading it, but for being my friends.

I'll be finding out what mics sound the best on my guitar, bass and voice.
I'll be recording scratch tracks, just a vocal and a bass or guitar. I'll do as many tracks as i can. I've got the studio for two hours.
I'll show the scratch tracks to fellow students who've told me they'd like to play on my cd. We'll match students to tracks, jam 'em a little, and start booking studio time to lay down the goods.

Listened to a little Pilate tonight. They're like canada's coldplay. Then they changed their name to Pilot Speed (copyright stuffs) and i didn't hear their second album. I let them go. I think i've let a lot of things go. Weezer might have deserved it. Dave Matthews Band might not have. Counting Crows probably. Matchbox Twenty isn't under debate. Lets not talk about the used.

My new site is too scary. I'm going to have to work on it. Attack the corners, the samurai say.
