Little updateski there.
We're not going south. Jordo got his ID taken for public peeing. It was expired. He doesn't have a birth certificate, so a new id isn't possible in the short term. We're going to whistler for the weekend. Coming back to van for a short bit, going to vic for a while, hitting some surf on the island, probably rocking around different parts of the island for two weeks or so. I'll be heading east leading into october. Expecting stops in calgary, saskatoon, dryden, ottawa, toronto, and montreal. I'll be home by halloween.
Alissa can sing, not sure if i said that. We might tour canada a little. I'll play bass. And open solo.
simon.
So, as it turns out, alissa is with jordan and simon got his heart broken. With that little triangle going on, someone had to take it. I guess i'm glad it's me.
Alissa's got a mad good voice on her, and she might be coming to cali. I want to do alot of busking.
There might be under the table work in cali, on some farm. They'll put a roof over my head and feed me, and pay me 10 an hour or something. A friend of a friend has been doing that for a few years and he was told that he can hire extra help for the busy stretch (mid oct to mid nov).
If i stay west and work in cali then i might have to make the trip south. Driving (or hitching) through mexico and into central america would be cheaper than flying to argentina, and likely as amazing. My dad was showing me some pyramids and such from guatamala that he visited before. For any of this to happen California is going to have to grab me hard by the balls, and my friends that need to get back north to canada will have to release the hold they have on my balls. It's possible.
So i'm still kicking around the kooteneys. Another music festival under my belt (salmon arm roots and blues). I don't know where i'm going today, tomorrow, any of those days which lie in the future. In 7 minutes the food bank is open, so i'm going to grab some lunch.
I'm outta here. Peace and Love.
Real swell time. We snuck in again, took an hour or two, hiking through thick woods, crossing a small marsh and a pair of knee high rivers. Then boom boom boom. Bass everywhere, dark; We had a little 4 person hug for a successful sneak in, then walked into the madness.
I had a tab of lsd in me before the hike, it was a wonderful idea. I had another tab when we got in there. Great first night. Didn't sleep. At about 9am when the sun had come up Jordo, Simon, Jenny and Scott did some more acid. Jenny is not vancouver jenny. She's scott's jenny and she's wicked.
I found some nice people to play music for on saturday morning. I walked through the tenting area on search for people to play music for. I found some great ones, managed to play my way towards a couple grams of mushies, a joint, and a nice campstove cooked breakfast wrap. Also, a banana.
This food was clutch. I did an epic job saving money during the weekend. I only spent 25 dollars in four days there. I brought my own acid in, and ate my share of food that people didn't finish and left in the dining tent. And we snuck in, avoiding that $200 tag.
Met some gals. Alissa and Carleigh.
Sometime saturday, with the guitar in tow, i made my way into a concrete ball, which was intended to be used for a slide show or some sort of light communication. Two projectors were broken, so the concrete ball was mostly going unused. I want to say it was the size of a small room. No standing room in the sides though. It was the top half of an empty ball.
I played some music in there. Pretty nice resonance. I also figured it would block out some of the outside music. It's really hard to get peace and quiet at shambhala. The closest i could get was singing so loud i could only hear myself.
So Liz and Car walk in. Listen to me play the island and martin luther. Some hugs, they walk.
I see them later when i'm enjoying an iced chai tea that some real neat red dred head bought for me. Her name is drew, and she's from kitchener/waterloo, and knew kate. We also were both sober for saturday night. Sobriety is pretty rad, ps.
When i saw alissa, i threw rocks at her feet. Classic childish flirt technique.
Ran into them again on monday morning. Sunday was a bit of a mushy/single tab acid night. Taken quite late, to remove the necessity for sleep. Worked like a charm, and at 8 or so in the morning, i found myself chilling out, rolling smokes at some hilly campsite that i'd been lucky enough to find.
So liz wakes up, gets out of the car and comes up to the site. I'm happy to see her. She's got a nice little grip on me, that liz.
I shamelessly followed her and her sister around all monday. By the time it was four o'clock most of the people had left, and i had successfully convinced the ladies to come with us to nelson.
Since then we've been convinced to go to the salmon arm folk festival this coming weekend. We're in nelson now, we've been camped out by cottonwood lake the past two nights. Lots of music. Just getting back into the drinking scene. I betcha life is pretty dull if you don't live it.
My car looks phenominal. There's two surfboards strapped to the top. A hard shell case bass guitar strapped to the top of Jordo's board. Two soft shell guitar cases and a mandolin on the sides of the boards. Then two backpacks on top of the instruments. The backseat is layered with blankets, and the trunk is stuffed all the way. It is pulled wide open and there's some rope to hold in whatever is poking out the back.
I'm in a really great mood. I love meeting people. These girls are going back home to saskatoon after the roots and blues festival in salmon arm (proper name there for ya). And i might pick them back up when i'm driving west across canada. They've got friends in montreal that they wanted to go visit. I've got gas bills. It's a perfect partnership. Plus that Alissa... I dont care if i'm not getting any, i just love surrounding myself with people that i really feel strongly about. Some brief journal sharesies (share-zees) went on today, and she's definately a quality lady. She's got a fucking sick singing voice. Can find her way around a six string, too.
Anyway, y'all know how much i can get thinking about women. I'm pretty sure they're the best thing going. All shapes and sizes.
Peace and Love. Lots of it. It's here in me, and the more i give it away the more i get. Take my love!
Taste.
After plant, i spent a mittful of days in vancity. Then Jordo and I drove off to Tofino, where we camped out for three nights in a vacant lot.
On our second night, we were both pretty beat up from the surf, and had smoked a joint. I was reading by headlamp, and jordo was nodding off. Then we heard a car pull up and stop. We couldn't see the vehicle from our tent. Paranoia set in, and I was personally pretty worried that a cop was there, or that we were getting towed.
Stepping out of the car we found ourselves parked next to some hippy van with two chicks. They offered a walk to the beach and a sitdown with a couple joints, so we did that.
Drove from Nanaimo to Nelson yesterday, got hooked up with some of jordo's buddy's here. We're all hoping to sneak into Shambhala tonight. I think a single tab of lsd will set me into the right mood. I'll be so ninja it's amazing.
our last day in tofino, jordo and i pull the magnet into a coffee shop, and some guy says "hey! I thought you were leaving town."
We say, "uh, yeah, we're going to shambhala, but not until after surfing today. How do you know who we are?"
He explained seeing us in the paper. Not a real paper, but an internet paper. The day before jordo and i had our picture taken, and a few questions were asked. An article appeared in the westcoaster. http://www.westcoaster.ca
We absolutely called the car "the magnet" but upon hearing what that was from, the reporter took the term "love magnet" and went right to town with it. Nice little photo though. First time Simon Joseph gets his name in print. Online print, mind you, but someone got payed to write something about me. That counts.
After shambhala we're going south, i reckon. We'll probably kill some time in the kooteneys first. Maybe i'll see my dad. I dont really have a drive to see him, but it's probably a good idea. Those adults are well trained in their guilt trips.
I have one more planting paycheque coming. I'll have about 4500. In the bank. Post surfboard.
Time is ending. Peace and Joy
I'm in tofino right now. Jordo and I picked up our boards yesterday afternoon from the place in van we bought 'em. Then we hopped a ferry to Nanaimo, and having lost our contact information for the dude we know in Nanaimo, we moved along.
Arrived in Tofino at about 2am, drove right downtown and then out onto some dock. Right on top of the pacific, you could say. There were some dudes on the dock, talking about being on e, coke and mushies. This didn't stop them from being interested in acid, crazy kids. We said we didn't have enough for anyone, just a couple hits that we were saving.
We, jordo and I, did a few tabs our last night in van. Quite an evening. I did a ton of talking and laughing.
When we got off the dock we were looking for a place to sleep, apparently the police doesn't let people sleep many places. We pulled off into some road and found a sign that said "Lot for Sale". It was a quality sign, we camped on that lot.
I'm gonna work on getting my car insured today. I'm also going to surf for the first time today. I'm really excited about the insurance, trust me.
Peace & Love,
simon
Kinda splurged. Kinda splurged bigtime. Bought a wetsuit and booties, as well as a car rack, and a surfboard. I didn't see it coming. 10 days of rentals and i would've spent the same amount of money. Jordo and I talked to some dude who had bought a board, and rode it around for a few weeks, and then sold it for 20 bucks less than he'd payed. That was inspiring, could be jordo's plan of attack.
I dont think i'm gonna do that. I got a pretty thick wetsuit so that i could surf in halifax. It's a big aquamarine colored Santa Cruz surfboard. 8 footer, should be pretty easy to get up. I've successfully signed up to the worlds coolest hobby. It's a real sexy board.
I've kinda been driving around with no car insurance. I guess it's something i'll need to remedy before i drive into the states. It's too late to do it before this weekend. Maybe on monday i'll get something done.
Fare thee well.

Look at johnny responsible, insuring his car. I've been driving it all over the place for the past 3+ weeks and i just sent the fax off today. As i explained to my father, i couldn't do it because i was never awake and in a town by noon, which is when i'd have to fax pei with the four hour time difference. We've been doing alot of sleeping and drinking.
So, as it turns out, alissa is with jordan and simon got his heart broken. With that little triangle going on, someone had to take it. I guess i'm glad it's me.

Hey, my name is simon, and i dig surfing.

Three straight 2:30pm wakeups, and i think i'm getting back to my well rested self. Lots of drinks and smokes over here, in van. I chucked last night, first time in a while. Alot of red wine. Felt great though, up to ten minutes pre-puke.
Kinda splurged. Kinda splurged bigtime. Bought a wetsuit and booties, as well as a car rack, and a surfboard. I didn't see it coming. 10 days of rentals and i would've spent the same amount of money.
