Hey sheep,
So I'm in Houston. Houston, we don't have a problem.
Last week of work was pretty rough, we were told that it looks like a record breaking season for both mosquitoes and black flies.
Before that bad week of work started, we had three days off in smithers. Everyone was running low on weed, and our last night in town i found myself walking around, and after thiefing a couple chocolate bars from the seven eleven a dude asked me if i wanted to smoke a joint.
I replied that i did, in fact, want to smoke a joint. And i inquired as to whether i could purchase some weed from him or someone he knew. We started walking towards his buddy's trailer.
During the walk we (it's myself, fantastic dude named bill, and two chicks from a different company who are also looking for a half o) find out that our host is coming from an e party. And he's having a good night. As we buy our weed i find out that dude is selling e as well so i ask him how much for a pill. He says "a pill?" with alot of emphasis on "a", and says ten dollars. I reckon that's more than i want to pay so feel ready to go.
On the way out our host finds out that e is for sale and says "three for twenty, right?" And this sounds pretty good to me, so after four moments of hesitation i say something indicating that I'm interested. I roll out my wallet and only find a ten, but our host pulls through puts forty bucks down from his wallet and i hand him my ten. He has six pills in his hand, and i say "two?" and he gives me three.
Soon after that, i say that i don't want to take the pills cause my birthday is coming up and I'd like to save them. When mr host finds out it's my birthday the next day he gives me another one of his pills, and i decide to take one that night.
I was running with three days worth of drinking at night and puffing all day, so one pill of e barely registered.
One pill that dude gave me was pretty soft, and i had the pills floating in my weed bag, so the soft pill found itself broken up. Some of it was smoked in bowls, one large chunk was smushed and sprinkled into a joint. Those two helpings were on the night of my birthday.
My birthday was our first day of work after three days off. It was almost unanimously the worst day of the season. It was then that we found out about the record setting bugs, and everyone got bit pretty hard. It also rained that night, and lots of people got flooded. Rough stuff all around. I had a pretty decent day though, it was my birthday what could i be mad about?
Today being day off, last night was DBDO and i had a wonderful time. A healthy dose of people stayed at the camp last night to party, and Jenine's crew has moved camps, so the amount of people who were out and roudy last night was less than normal.
But i had two pills of e in me, and a healthy dose of red wine. Played some pool. Late-night i grabbed my guitar and walked to the park with chris and jordan, two people from my crew. Smoked some bowls, played some guitar, effing lovely.
Went back to the hotel for a little bathroom hotbox, and rolled into bed to sleep.
This morning i woke up feeling a little burnt out, but pretty darn decent. Went to a restaurant and ordered myself a half grapefruit. Went back to the motel to play some guitar, smoked a hash bowl with a dude from nanaimo that i'm getting to know better this year.
Once the other members of my crew has arisen we went to breakfast. I didn't much feel like eating, but i did have three double caesars. And they were delish. After that jordan and myself went to throw in our laundry (which reminds me, mine is in the washing machine, i must fix that predic pretty soon) and then a bunch of us piled into the back of a planting truck (large wooden box, floor space of a half ton, ceiling has almost room to stand up) fired up a pair of bowls, weed and hash respectively. It was lovely to get out of the rain, though it was merely a drizzle.
Russ and myself walked to the library after that. I got my guitar on my back and we played some tunes out in front of the library while waiting for the computers to free up. Then i came in here, checked my email, slid over to facebook, and came to blogger it up. Other than the caesars, which were kinda special, this has been a typical day off.
Peace and love everyone.

We just finished our first contract. I'm on one of three days off.
I started out the season a little slow. I got tennis elbow, apparently. Also brief problems with wrists, a forearm and knees. Sometimes things get muggly when vets try to plant as fast as they're used to planting before they're in comfortable late summer shape.
I learned to plant left handed. That was pretty neat. I planted lefty for 3 full days, and then did a half n' half day. And second last day i had to switch to left handed on my 2nd last bagup cause of minjury.
I'm catching stride though, finished the shift with a 375 dollar day, 300 dollar day, and hundred dollar half day. The best contract of the year is the first one though, financially. I expect to start to struggle to keep myself in the 200 dollar a day range.
Bass is super sweet. I've been thinking about music with chris again. The future still looks good.
Planting will likely finish sometime in the first week of august. I'll head to van for a short number of days. Then head to vic for a bit, and tofino for a bit. I'm gonna learn to surf.
After a number of days on the island Jordan Barca and myself will be moving south. A couple i met in venezuela has invited me to go to their place (they live on an island south of vancouver island, part of the usa) so i'll be doing that when vic and tofino are done with me.
And then farther south, Jordan and I will hopefully be finding places to surf the whole way down the west coast. Destination: Aine/SanFran
Jordan and I will probably spend 10ish days in san fran. Probably campground or hostel, with expectations of passing out at the O'Hizzle resedence a time 'r two.
Then driving the magnet back north to bc, and driving east. Standard stops scheduled for kelowna, nelson, calgary, dryden, toronto, kitchener, ottawa, and montreal. I wonder if i'll have company while confronting sunrises. That means moving east. Kinda poetic i know... it's just coming naturally now.
as we battle on
guns rat-tattle on
trigger fingers point at who's to blame.
I might try to be a foreman next year planting. If i am able to foreman i'll need a crew. I'll likely be foremaning a sixpack, meaning me and five others. If jordan barca plants, i'll probably get him on my crew. I'm going to ask a kim girl who planted last year, and is fighting fires this year if she'll come plant with me. There's a rookie on another crew this year named bill. He's from halifax, i'd love to have him planting for me. Solid dude.
I'll want some rookies, too. Invitations are as good as presented to craig, dave, and mike mahar. Planting on my crew would be pretty fun, i reckon. Next year will be my fourth year out here. It's become such a natural environment for me. I have taken a shining to boxed wine, and last night i lost a game of GO with a guy named eric. There's lots of music, booze, weed, campfires, frisbee and hacky sack this year. If anyone from the island wants to come plant out west, then that'd be sweet.
It'd be pretty sick if j.c. came and planted in the west. I aughta ask her.
So everything is pretty great. I'm totally alive.
simon.
