I just thought i'd share this, i was going through old emails, because my account size is getting up. One such old email was one that i got from natalie from back in the day. On this old email, not only did i have what she sent me, but since it was a reply, the message that i'd sent her was still intact. And i will share with you all the first two lines from the email that i'd written to natalie. And i quote:
"Hey Natalie, how did your yesterday go? i hope it went well. I went out with dave and dan, and we hucked tim-bits at things"
Sounds funny to me. But only vaguely do i remember this night. If dave or dan is reading, and there's something funny to say, i'd like to hear it.
Adios.
This song is gorgeous, listen to the words.
"... fake the way i hold you, let you fall for every empty word i say."
Beauty is everywhere, let's keep finding it.
Not everyone has to think the same way you think. They'll think different things, at different times. And that's how it should be. The important thing is that when people get together, they can stop thinking, and just start enjoying their time with eachother.
I think that people naturally get along with eachother. We just have to stop noticing our differences and start noticing our similarities. If you find someone you care about and look into their eyes you might know what i mean.
If you find someone of the same sex it might work better, cause otherwise that feeling you feel might just be wanting to get it on. We're not perfect, we do have urges. If you can control the urges though, then feel free to take some good looks at the fairer sex.
Ladies and gentlemen: sham on.
I made that post under the impression that i know what's going on in my head. I want you to read it, as if it's the truth. Believe.
Thanks for the talk last night kate. I feel really good.
As for last post, i'm pretty sure i'll be able to get some songs written. Confidence is positivity. Arogence is negativity.
I think i'm going to order some tapes about jesus. I wish that he was able to change the world more then he did.
The good side has to win. We've got to stop cutting trees, and hurting the ozone layer. Negativity swells in our world.
We are the first creature with the capability of destroying the world we live in. That's a fucking shit load of responsibility. Up untill now, we've basically blown it.
Music helps though. Logic can not understand the beauty of music. Nor can logic understand art. Only our natural positivity can understand the beauty of music.
It's symbolic that brittany spears has a song called "me against the music". She's just a tool.
I dont want to come across as pretentious. But i think that i know alot. That might be what pretentious is.
I wish that everyone would just believe in themselves. I think we're supposed to believe in ourselves. But we're getting too smart. Now we can think fast enough to second guess everything about our selves.
We look in the mirror, and ask "what is wrong with this picture". Mirrors must be used in a good way.
I want everyone who reads this to do something for me. Pick a song. The song that you love the most right now. A song that seems to end before it begins because you've gotten so into it to realize that it's been continuing. I want you to take a cd player into the bathroom, and i want you to listen to the song, and dance, and sing along. And look at yourself in the mirror occasionally. Watch yourself have a good time.
Dont do it twice in a row. If you do, you'll be thinking the second time, you'll be waiting to feel the spark you felt the first time. We have got to stop waiting for things to happen.
Okay, revalation. Big one.
Holy fucking shit. Huge one.
Wow.
It is all right now. Feel it. Have a beer, it'll help.
We're all little battles of good and evil. If the good side is winning, then you're a happy person. If you're not happy, you should probably be drinking more water. But beer is good too. Beer kills evil.
Is he joking?
next week is my spring break. I will compose a list of goals.
1. Get some of my serious thoughts typed up.
2. Skate on the rideau canal.
3. Record a song for internet posting.
4. Put serious effort into making goal #3 an original song.
That is all.
I am not joni mitchell.
I am not johnny greenwood.
I am not thom yorke.
I am not matthew good.
I am not dave matthews.
I am not ben folds.
I am not rivers cuomo.
I am simon, and i am eternally grateful for everything i've been given. I will not be better then the aformentioned list of people, nor will i be worse. What i will do, is reach my potential. And i'll do it in the funnest way that i can think of.
I will play music, i will speak to people, i will love people, and people will love me.
i will not die.
The End?!
Expect big things. Not from me, from you. I expect big things from me. I'm seriously so close to understanding myself. It's really a very exciting moment. But dont think of it as a moment. It's all happening. I'm absolutely retarded right now, and i've never felt better. I'm high on existing, my friends.
Dont let anyone tell you how to dance. If you can remember that, you'll never have a problem again. And while you're not listening to people telling you how to dance, you should be sure to dance more often, and sing. And play. Definately play.
Anything you can do where you feel like you're playing, do it. I play guitar. Maybe you can play on a skateboard, maybe you play by drawing. But seriously play as often as possible.
I'm going to have a great life. You should too. Hot diggity.
Okay, here's the thing, think of living as an art, not a science. Dont plan your life, live it.
um, rawk. Totally totally rawk.
Totally.
Well, let's see, what is there to talk about?
I got 8/10 on my first music listening test, i'm pleased enough. I have a midterm on tuesday that's going to be really rough, because i havn't been to the class very often. But i think if i write off tomorrow as a day of total study then i might be able to get by.
As anyone who read's aine's blog will know, i too was at the pilate show on monday. I really was doing alot of thinking about the band while listening to them, and i'm really undecided on what i thought. But i think what i gathered from the band, is that with a few exceptions, they seem to be an average band with exceptional vocals. I found that the band (including the guitar playing by the lead vocalist) seemed to lack respect for the vocals, in that the music didn't support the voice as much as compete with it. I felt that throughout many songs the band sounded as though they wanted to be a heavy rock band, and the angelic voice of their lead singer didn't really match their music. This is at their live show though, and i've found that with the songs i've heard off the cd, they compliment the voice a little better. I think many of their album songs are very well produced.
As a very important note, i should say that the primary two exceptions to the band vs. vocals idea were "into your hideout", which is their first single, and "alright" which is my favorite song, and (if everything is right in the universe) should be their second single. I really believe that if alright catches on, then the band might realize how pure the lead vocals are, and try and write music which can showcase this voice (like alright does exceptionally well) then they could become a great band, hopefully one that canadians can be proud of. Honestly, how much longer will nickleback represent canada?
I think we should all take a moment and download alright by pilate. It's really good. It wont jump out at you, like into your hideout did. But the song is dripping with emotion. I'm not alright.
Art has the ability of objectifying emotion. Art is just a lump of clay and thoughts in your head. And with enough practice, you can mold that clay into something that represents your feelings. I think everyone should dance, or paint, or sing, or write, or do something that allows them to express their individuality. Do something that lets you show the world who you are. Do something that makes you realize how special you are, even if other people dont understand it. Because whoever you are, you're an individual, and nobody is like you. It doesn't matter if your drawing or your song makes you feel happy, or sad, or excited, or hopeless. All that matters is that you feel something, and that you let yourself express it.
Before moving on, i'd like to take a moment to say that i like that last paragraph.
"The only thing about ourselves that we do take seriously is our music." - The Darkness
Amazing album. I dare you to go buy an album that you'll enjoy as much as this one. Sam Roberts, you can take a smoke break, because The Darkness will be the saviours of rock. I'm not sure if it's rock exactly (i found the album in the "Metal" section at HMV) but whatever it is, it breaks ground. The lead vocals, which appear almost comical at first, quickly become pretty freaking good, and support a range that would have jeff buckley nod his head in approval (Jeff Buckley, dead at the age of twenty seven after putting out a single album. He supported an eight octave vocal range. Who knows what his impact on music could've been). But the vocals aren't the only thing to recognise by the darkness, groovy electric riffs and kick ass solos are apparent around every turn. Kick Ace.
I also picked up speakerboxxx/the love below. I think it will take me longer to get into, i'm not very familiar with the genre. But i must say, so far, so good. The love below seems to stretch the borders of hip hop alot more then speakerboxxx does. But both discs have alot of quality. Sorry for the poor review, but i've had trouble getting The Darkness out of my cd player.
Rawk.

Y'know, nomatter who you are, i'm sure you've met alot of people in your life that you've felt a real connection with. I think it's very important that you dont forget who these people are. Sometimes people say or do things that you dont agree with, and while you're not agreeing with someone, it's hard to remember who they really are, and what they've meant to you.
Not everyone has to think the same way you think. They'll think different things, at different times. And that's how it should be. The important thing is that when people get together, they can stop thinking, and just start enjoying their time with eachother.

My main fear in life is disapointing those who believe in me.

There's alot of people that think of life as a destination. They're always waiting for the time that they'll be happy. It's so good that people like us are living life all the while.
The Klink family served me well as my source for comments, hopefully haloscan will work just as well.
